Hello from the Bayou State, Louisiana!! This is the Bayouman, aka Dave Barron. Found this forum the other day from a post by goodguyinar416 on the Scale Racing Lobby! Great place, and glad someone decided to have a special place for diecast!
I have been collecting diecast and model cars since the early sixties, and I still have the first Matchbox that my Dad got me way back in '61. Now a days, I have paired my collecting down and am trying to specialize on some themes, although I think I may still have too many! I collect, almost exclusively 1/25 - 1/24 scale. My stable includes Sprint Cars (I have a pretty good Steve Kinser collection), classic Nascar cars by University of Racing Legends, some modern Nascar, some rails and digggers by 1320, RSR super stocks etcclassics of the fifties by both Mints, (including about 12 57 Chevys), the fire truck collection by Yatming, NAPA trucks and cars by First Gear, (including the Mack Tow Truck) Muscle Cars by the Mints, First Gear and Unique, some Ertl classics, Texaco #1 through 30 by Ertl, plus countless plastic models both built and unbuilt! Gees, I really didn't realize until you start listing them how the list grows!
I will see if I can post some pictures!!
Later,
Dave B - Bayouman

Nathan - WOW, I really like your collection of rollbacks! Maisto has done a great job with those, plus they are readily available - they make an impressive show when they are all together..! The IH rollback that I have is the JADA 1/24th, and of course the 38 GMC Flatbed is a Danbury Mint piece that I picked up at a flea market some time ago in Shreveport for a little bit of nothing - the stake sides where all busted up, and I was able to get it for less than $20.00!!

Hey Again - Yes indeed, I think ANYTIME you can score a Mint car/truck in the under $35.00 you are doing OK. Some time OK at Hub Hobbies in New Orleans, I stumbled across a huge slew of built models that they had for sale - no boxes, but each one in a clear display case - the plastics were all $9.99, and the diecast were all $19.99 - I bought about 35 of the plastic/resin cars, and the whole time I was mistaken that the diecast where all $199 - long story, I missed some really good Danbury mint cars, but also picked up quite a few - Danbury and Franklin Mint - 55 Olds 88(red/white), 55 Nomad (turquoise), 57 Chevy Belaire convertible(Midnight Blue), 57 Mercury Turnpike Cruiser (Red/White), 57 Studebaker Hawk (dark turquoise), 58 Chrysler New Yorker Convertible(Medium blue) , 58 Edsel Citation (Pink/white), 58 Edsel Country Squire (red/white/woody) 53 GMC P/U - (Maroon.) I was also blessed about eight years ago, a store here called "Tuesday Morning" had a huge purchase of discontinued Franklin Mint cars - all $19.99! Picked up my first 53 GMC, 2 40 Ford Pickups, 37 Cord, 55 T-Bird, 2 57 Chevies, 63 Chevy Convertible 409 (since sold) and a 53 B-Model Mack Texaco Tank Truck in 1/32 scale - lots of fun! They had the cars in the toy section, in the Styrofoam inner boxes - so kids had destroyed a lot of them before I found them for sale - wow, luck of the draw!
All of the sprint cars shown in the photos are 1/24 and 1/25 scale - mostly GMP and Action. Three of my Kinser cars are autographed too - the Valvoline car also has his uncle Karl Kinser's signature - this is the last race that they were together and before the switch to Quaker State - one is from the night before Steve Kinser won his 500th career win too - Pike County Speedway in Magnolia Mississippi.! I do have three classic USAC cars from GMP in 1/18 - they are AWESOME, and got them for a steal as well. Also in my collection are about 60 1/24th scale Racing Champions Sprint cars, some Nutmeg Modifieds, some ADC Late Models etc! I have the bug BAD!! Plus, I have the complete set of 1/64the World of Outlaws Sprints first year run, with almost complete years two and three editions. Good Greif! Have about 55-65 1/18th scale Ertl and other makes from about 15 years ago as well. Enough about me - I see you have an incredible collection as well - Great to know others are so stricken too!
Thanks,
Dave B - Bayouman

Dave, alrighty then you have a bunch of nice diecasts, please post them, I am going to be posting some more Danbury Mints tonight and one of them is a 40 Ford street rod in a semi gloss black paint job with old school pinstriping, I am going to be doing some indepth pics to go in a magazine I write for. ModelcarBuilder available at www.magCloud.com/ModelCarBuilder and the mag is 410.00 and worth every penny of it, over 65 color pages, it is one of Roy Sorenson's best since Plastic fanatic (I wrote for that one too)
